"Supporting the Light"

To Tell A Friend

If you were asked to tell a friend

that tomorrow he would die,

Would you face up to the task at hand,

or when you met him would you lie?

If you were asked to tell him,

that his life was at an end,

Would you pass him by in silence all,

or would you meet him like a friend?

If you were asked to tell a friend,

though he dies his soul will live.

Would you find it hard to say out loud,

that his sins God must forgive?

If you were asked to tell him,

there is a heaven and a hell,

Would you pass him by in silence all,

or would you ask if all was well?

If you were asked... but then you have,

for the Christians' task is plain,

Christ suffered death upon the tree,

that we may live again.

And you are called to spread the news,

that death is not the end,

For faith and trust in Christ as Lord,

can save a dying friend.
