Don’t Be Deceived
It's not so much the things we say,
as the things we do
that count.
It's not so much the things we think,
as to what those things
amount.
It's not so much the way we talk,
as the tone in which
we speak.
It's not so much the things we shout,
as the purpose which
we seek.
It's not so the way we dress,
as the manner we
display.
It's not so much the things we wear,
as the person we
portray.
So let's not be deceived
by looks,
nor wealth of words hold high.
Look deeper than the clothes
that cover,
in case they be a lie.
For what one looks
and what one is,
are often not the same,
And if the cover
we only read,
we've but ourselves
to blame.
