Alone or lonely?

 

 

Alone!

Can this be so?

That one could be alone and not appear to know.

That though no company is found,

Not one soul is around,

One my not even know,

He is alone.

 

 

Alone!

Can this be so?

That one could be alone

And no-one else should know.

That in that large and crowded room,

Even though the party's in full bloom,

One may not let it show,

He is alone.

 

 

Alone!

Can this be so?

That some who are alone

Need not be so?

That some, though in a crowd, have cried,

Oh! I'm so very much alone inside!

One my not know or show,

He is alone.
